Newark Academy Boys' Swimming Ready to Dive into 2024-25 Season
The Newark Academy boys’ swimming team is preparing to make waves in the 2024-25 season after another dominant year last year.
2023 Season Recap
The 2023-24 season saw the Minutemen finish with an impressive 6-2-1 record and claim their third consecutive Prep B Championship title, led by captains Owen Markowitz ’24 and Jasper Schnieders-Smith ’24. Both Markowitz and Schnieders-Smith earned All-Super Essex Conference honors, while Markowitz was named the Prep B Swimmer of the Meet. Head Coach Billy Blomn, celebrated over 25 years at the helm.
New Leadership and Key Returners
This season, the team will be led by captions and All-SEC honorees Ted Crall ’25, Brett Matlosz ’25, Alejandro Rodriguez ’25, and Evan Yao ’25.
Season Outlook
The Minutemen kick off their season on Tuesday, December 10, with a home meet against West Essex at 4 p.m. Competing in the highly competitive Super Essex Conference American Division, Newark Academy will face Seton Hall Prep, Columbia, Montclair, Millburn, Livingston, West Essex and Montclair Kimberley Academy.
