Newark Academy Girls' Swimming Ready for 2024-25 Campaign

The Newark Academy girls’ swimming team is preparing to defend its titles in the pool this season. With a strong roster under Head Coach Billy Blomn, the Minutemen are looking to continue their dominance in the Super Essex Conference.

2023 Season Recap
The Minutemen finished with an impressive 8-2 record and claimed their second consecutive Prep B Championship. The season was highlighted by performances from a roster packed with returning All-SEC honorees, recent graduates and captains Alyssa Lee ’24 and Julia Zheng ’24 and recent graduate, captain and All-Super Essex Conference swimmer Meghan Lai ’24.

New Leadership and Key Returners
The 2024-25 season brings a new group of captains in Laura Kim ’24, Claire Wong ’24, and Ivie Drogin ’25. Key returners include Kim Tran ’25, the All-SEC standout and Prep B Swimmer of the Meet, along with fellow All-SEC honorees Claire Wong, Laura Kim, Amy Jiang ’27, Lauren Markowitz ’26, Emma Crall ’27, Phoebe Kaplan ’25, and Ivie Drogin.

Season Outlook
The Minutemen open their season at home against West Essex on Tuesday, December 10, at 4 p.m. They will compete in the challenging Super Essex Conference American Division against top programs including Mount Saint Dominic, Columbia, Montclair, Millburn, Livingston, West Essex and Montclair Kimberley Academy.
